DRAFT — placeholder, not published

Building Nomba Shield: a KYC-gated fintech backend in under a week

A solo build for the Nomba x DevCareer Hackathon: a KYC-gated virtual account system with real-time risk scoring, a NestJS backend deployed to Google Cloud Run, and HMAC-verified webhooks — from scoping to a live deploy in under a week.

Context

PLACEHOLDER — needs your real account. Fintech onboarding usually means KYC checks, virtual account issuance, and fraud/risk signals working together before a user can move money. The hackathon brief asked for that flow built and deployed inside a single week, solo.

Approach

PLACEHOLDER — needs your real account. Built a NestJS backend handling KYC-gated account creation, a real-time risk-scoring pass on incoming transactions, and webhook endpoints verified with HMAC signatures so Nomba's platform could trust the callbacks. Deployed to Google Cloud Run for the live demo.

What broke

PLACEHOLDER — needs your real account. Replace this with the specific thing that actually broke or nearly didn't work under the time pressure — the risk-scoring logic, the webhook verification, the deploy, or something else entirely.

What I'd do differently

PLACEHOLDER — needs your real account. Replace this with a decision you'd defend or reverse, and what you'd actually do differently with more time.
